ISO 31000 is a guideline standard that sets out principles, a framework, and a process for managing risk, covering how organisations identify, analyse, evaluate, treat, monitor and communicate about risk of every kind, including safety and financial risk.
Important distinction: unlike ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 22000, 27701, 37301 or 22301, ISO 31000 is guidance rather than a certifiable management-system standard: there is no accredited third-party “ISO 31000 certification” to be audited against. What we deliver is implementation and alignment: a risk management framework and process built to ISO 31000’s internationally recognised principles, which can be independently assessed and referenced, but not “certified” in the same sense as the other standards on this page.
For boards, funders and tender evaluators, an ISO 31000-aligned risk framework demonstrates that risk is managed systematically rather than informally, and it underpins several of our other services (ISO 37301 compliance management and ISO 22301 business continuity both rely on sound risk management practice).
